Secret Place to Watch The Best Fireworks Display On New Year's Eve - HERE

Top 10 Best Spot To Watch Fireworks for 2010 New Year Countdown in KL,PJ !!

Here are the Top 10 best spots to view the fireworks around KL and PJ area for the 2010 New Year Countdown. From Ampang Look Out Point, Taman Tasik Titiwangsa to Sunway Pyramid and Tropicana City Mall. Compiled by KLUE and this might be a slightly long post but who cares when there's nice stuffs to share !! Here are the top spots in non-biased order.

(1) Ampang Look Out Point

Ampang Lookout Point Has Panaromic View Of KL City for 2010 Countdown

This is the perfect spot for a panoramic view of the Kuala Lumpur City skyline. Both romantic and breathtaking, the road that leads up to this little treasure is dark and winding, so be sure to leave early in the evening so you'd secure a parking spot. There are restaurants up here such as Gasoline, Haven, and the Bread and Olives Cafe where you can dine at with the best company, before heading over to the hill-top tower to enjoy the fireworks over the Petronas KLCC Twin Towers. Located in Ampang, the Look Out Point is a mere 20 minutes from the Kuala Lumpur City Centre for a beautiful escape.

Address Jalan Hulu Langat (B62), Ampang, Selangor.

(2) Tropicana City Mall

Tropicana City Mall 1st 2010 New Year Countdown Gathering

The brand, spanking new mall in the heart of Petaling Jaya, which serves many of its happy SS2, Damansara Utama and Damansara Jaya residents with its array of shops and cinema, will be celebrating New Year 2010 with fireworks, live band performances, fire breathers, a samba percussion group and magicians. The activities will be taking place at the entrance of the Mall and starts at 8pm, so expect a traffic jam along the NKVE which runs in front of it, as passers-by will probably stop to watch the fireworks.

Address Tropicana City Mall, No. 3, Jalan SS20/27, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

(3) Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall

Scenic Nightview of Sunway Pyramid, Awesome Spot for 2010 Countdown

Subang peeps who are too lazy to drive to KL city to party will settle for the local mall's firework display which is pretty decent. Families can also enjoy the explosive colours from their backyard or garden, especially those who love having barbecue parties for the festivities. Precocious young adults can also head to Euphoria by Ministry of Sound to boogie the night down, while Bar Celona and the new Opera is within walking distance.

Address Sunway Pyramid, 15, Jalan PJS 11/24, Bandar Sunway, 46150 Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

(4) City Walk @ i-City, Shah Alam
If hearing motivational speeches which get you prepped for the year ahead is your kinda thing, then welcome the New Year with leaders Khalid Ibrahim and Teresa Kok. The event begins at 5pm with Orang Asli and multicultural drum performances, and later in the night, Selangor Menteri Besar will be delivering a speech to usher in the new year. The night comes to a close when the fireworks go off at the stroke of midnight and everyone has a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

Address City Walk @ i-City, Seksyen 7, Shah Alam.

(5) The Curve

The Curve Annual New Year Countdown Concert 2010

The annual New Year's Countdown is not complete with a concert held at the Curve, organised by Fly fm. Last year it was a Masquerade Party, and this year we will see hottie Faizal Tahir and local powerhouse Jaclyn Victor heat up the stage at 8pm. Roads will be closed to house this event hosted by Joey G and model Kylie Chapman, so be sure to get there early to avoid having to park by the roadside and risk your car getting scratched.

Address 6, Jalan PJU 7/3, Mutiara Damansara, 47810 Petaling Jaya.

(6) Bukit Gasing, Petaling Jaya
For those of you who are adventurous enough, take a climb up Gasing Hill, one of the last surviving green lungs in the Klang Valley. There is a dirt path which many residents take for their morning walks, though there is overgrowth, so it is best to don a comfortable pair of sneakers than just flip-flops. At the end of the path, there is a little hut built on stilts where you can climb and take in the view of Old Klang Road and parts of the KL skyline, including the Petronas Twin Towers. An alternative would be to drive up Gasing Hill on one of the roads which will lead you to a telecommunications tower, and there are benches for you to sit on. The view may be blocked by a few trees, though.

(7) Jalan Bukit Pantai, Bangsar
This frequently travelled road is usually overlooked since cars just roll past without noticing, but there is a little spot along it which hosts the prettiest framed sight of the KL skyline and on New Year's Eve, you can park your car on the side of the road (make sure it doesn't obstruct traffic though), and walk down the road from Pantai Towers to enjoy the fireworks. The houses and condominiums in Bukit Pantai will also have access to the view, thanks to the high point of their construction.

(8) ASEAN Sculpture Garden, Kuala Lumpur

Nice view of KLCC and KL Tower

This garden, located within Lake Gardens in KL, boasts award-winning sculptures from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Brunei. The sculptures, mostly individual pieces, are magnificent and majestic. If you stand near the lake, you'll be able to see the Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower looming above the trees, so if you're bold enough to go there at night alone, try this spot where the grass is soft and you can sit all night having drinks.

(9) Bukit Permai, Cheras

Bukit Permai Overlooking the KL City

This look out point which is not as spectacular as the one in Ampang will do, for those who live around this residential area. During the major celebrations like Merdeka and New Year's, many will crowd in this area to watch the fireworks over Kuala Lumpur. This not-so-cosy little nook is dubbed 'Little Genting', and is nestled within a labyrinth of houses so be sure to check out the map before you set out on your journey.

(10) Taman Tasik Titiwangsa

Preview of fireworks In Taman Tasik Titiwangsa

An urban retreat for those who want to jog around the lake in the middle of it, go canoeing or just lie on the lawn to soak up the fresh air, this park is a household name for those who live in KL. If you want to watch the fireworks along with countless strangers and children, this is the place to be.

Address Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, Jalan Kuantan, Kuala Lumpur.

RM50 Credit Card Tax To Start On Anniversary Date On New Year 2010

RM50 credit card tax starts New Year’s Day

Applicants issued with new credit and charge cards next year will have to pay the RM50 service tax upfront. For existing card holders, the charge will be imposed on the anniversary date of cardsSecond Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, who confirmed this with The Star yesterday, said the Government would impose the service tax for credit and charge cards from next year.

Existing cardholders will only be charged the service tax through their issuing banks upon the aniversary date of the card.

“For example, if the card’s anniversary date is in January, then you pay the tax in January. But if the date is in April, then you only pay the tax in April,” he added.

The minister’s clarification puts to rest nagging doubts among the millions of credit card holders in the country who have been raising queries since Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced the new tax when he unveiled Budget 2010 in October.

Najib, who is also the Finance Minister, had said that a RM50 service tax for principal credit and charge cards and a RM25 for supplementary cards would be imposed from January.

This has led to card holders asking if the charges will be imposed from Jan 1 or on the anniversary dates of the cards, which are usually issued for a three-year period.

Meanwhile, many banks in Malaysia are strategising to help customers pay the government service tax on credit cards effective Jan 1, 2010. The banks are willing to allow customers to utilise their points collected to help pay the tax charge.

Master Card and Visa Credit Card Issued By Various Banks

Other banks have also said that consumers could easily offset the tax with the many cash rebates offered with their credit cards.

Earlier,The Government had announced in Budget 2010 that an annual service tax of RM50 will be imposed for each principal credit card and RM25 for each supplementary card, in an effort to encourage prudent spending.

Hannah Tan's I’ll Be Home For Christmas Charity Concert Was A Blast !!

Hannah Tan belting out some song with full emotion !!

It was three hours of non-stop entertainment at Hannah Tan's I’ll Be Home For Christmas charity concert, featuring an array of local singers, musicians and celebrities. From Hazami to Meet Uncle Hussain to the Fabulous Cats, the who's who in the local entertainment industry were there to lend their helping hands.

More than 1000 people attended the fun-filled concert. Aside from all-time favourite Christmas songs, the audience were also treated to magic tricks, tap dancing (by the lovely Jojo Struys), a stand-up comedy, beatboxing, violin and saxophone solo. There was also Shaun Lee, a small guy with a squeaky voice, doing beatboxing that sounded as crazy as it could get.

Well, Japan Ambassador to Malaysia, Masahiko Horie might be the only foreign guest of honour and non-entertainer at the event, but he won over the locals with his fluent Bahasa Malaysia, his humourous and self-depreciating demeanour and his heartfelt rendition of Getaran Jiwa, a P. Ramlee's classic.

Next, Malaysian Idol alumni Ash Nair teamed up with violinist/songwriter Dennis Lau on his spark-filled new single, Crazy. The crowd were later brought down the memory lane, losing themselves in the perfect delivery of Belaian Jiwa by Reymee and Sam of Innuendo.

More entertainment came in the form of rapper Reefa, who premiered a new single off his upcoming album, the catchy Bodyshakin'. While Atilia moved the crowd with the jazzy Indah, Sasi the Don rocked the house with Music in Me, his praise-worthy collaboration with American raggae-pop star, Dr. Alban.

Harith Iskandar Made An Impromptu Song

Despite not being a professional musician, funnyman Harith Iskandar stole the thunder when he made up an impromptu song about one of the volunteers, much to the audience's loud cheers and applause. He also had the house rocking in laughter with his timely comic -- talking about everything from Amy Winehouse to Sheila Majid to Ultraman.

Of course, the show would not be complete without the smokin' hot person who made it all happen - Hannah Tan. Despite suffering from sore throat and flu, Hannah showcased her vocal range in Making The Difference, Hold My Head Up and Kylie Minogue’s In Your Eyes.

And did you know that Hannah and co. perform for free?

Instead of an entry pass, each audience member was required to bring a Christmas gift of any value, which would be donated to orphanages and underprivileged children.

Richard Branson, Owner Of Virgin Group In Air Asia Stewardess Outfit..DAMN FUNNY !!

Richard Branson In Red Hot and Tight Air Stewardess Outfit..DAMN FUNNY !!

Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes has accepted Sir Richard Branson’s challenge to dress up as a Virgin Airline stewardess if his Lotus F1 Racing team loses out in the 2010 Formula One race.

"Bring it on," challenges Fernandes, who is the Team Principal and also Group CEO of AirAsia, Asia’s largest low-cost carrier.

"Our guests will be delighted to be served by a Knight of the Realm."

But Branson had better brace himself for the challenge because Fernandes wants the British rebel billionaire to dress as an Air Asia stewardess.

And in a super tight red skirt to boot, if his Virgin Racing loses out in the race.

"But knowing Richard, the real challenge will be to prevent him from asking our guests, ‘coffee, tea or me," teased Fernandes.

Branson’s Virgin Group owns Virgin Racing, which alongside Fernandes’ Lotus F1 Racing team, are among the four new teams making their debut at the 2010 F1 circuit.

Nokia E72 - Latest Review - Dec'09

Review on Nokia E72

Frankly speaking, I've been blown away by the new Nokia E72. So often with upgrades or new additions to series we found that there's no great deal has been altered about a phone, even if the launch has been fanfared and the price increased. Not so with this new Nokia.

They´ve raised the bar several notches in the business phone sector and if you´re in the market for something like this, we couldn´t recommend the E72 more highly. Although the original E71 has been used for the nuts, bolts and general looks of the new E72, there´s more changes and significant ones at that to warrant a good hard second look.

Sweet Nokia E72

The E71 was Nokia´s best ever selling QWERTY-keyboard handset, but as VP of Nokia Ilari Nurmi has been quoted as saying, “Despite the outstanding market performance of the Nokia E71, we still continually look for ways to enhance the device." And boy have they.

Here´s my top ten of the new gadgets, gizmo, go-fasters and gorgeous things on-board:

  1. New optical navigation key for intuitive scrolling and fast panning
  2. Desktop like email experience imported from the E75
  3. Camera upgraded to 5 megapixels (with autofocus and flash)
  4. Top-loading 3.5 mm audio jack added
  5. New IM features allowing you to connect to your current IM accounts (Yahoo, Google, Ovi, etc.)
  6. Faster general performance and internet speeds thanks to upgrades to how the Symbian S60 system runs
  7. A-GPS and compass with integrated Maps
  8. Active noise cancellation helping improve general call quality
  9. Spacebar key-activated torch function
  10. New version of Quickoffice, delivering Microsoft Office 2007 compatibility (along with access to any subsequent upgrades)

Appearance
Thinner and lighter than most Blackberries out there, the E72 is also a stunning looker of a business phone. Slim at only 10mm thick, the phone still seems incredibly solid and well built with a very metallic feel and great curves, yet the whole package still weighs only 128 grams.

Nokia E72 from all angles..AWESOME !!
The 2.4-inch display might not be quite as crisp as some other business phones, lacking slightly in the pixel department, but then we feel if you´re choosing a QWERTY-keyboard-based phone, you´re already more than happy to accept that you´re not going to have all singing, all-dancing 3.8” touch-screen style.

This is a business phone, not an entertainment device. Saying that though, the 3.5mm jack is a fantastic addition, and the E72 also features an FM radio, which most other business phones lack.

Summary
If you really need a business phone, there´s currently nothing better on the market. Nokia impressed with the E71, as fantastic sales proved. But the E72 blows the competition away on just about every count. Sleek, great to handle, impressive performance and upgradeability: it got it all.

More reading at this website, for the detailed operations of this gorgeous Nokia E72

Currently retailed at Nokia outlets for RM1700 but of course you can get it at much lower price, if you know where to get it =)

The Opera Sunway Pyramid - Latest Review

The Opera, new club in Sunway Pyramid - My Personal Review

Alright, here's my review on this new club,The Opera in Sunway Pyramid. Went there with a bunch of buddies for the soft launch. I myself don't frequent clubs but since The Opera is giving free entrance and free flow of beer and cocktail, I tell to myself, "Hey, thats cool !! why not give a try? " As usual, very high expectations since it's slated to be one of the best club in Sunway. What's my verdict ? If you don't like criticisms, might as well stay away from this post. LOL !

The event started at 8pm. As we all know the Malaysian timing and traffic jam after working hours, we were able to gather at the entrance roughly 9pm. Then this usher came to us and asking us to register via SMS for a free entrance. My friend said she made a reservation but to my surprise there's no one in charge of the booking table thingy. Damn pissed !! it made no difference whether you made the reservation or not and still have to cramp with the rest who didn't.
NO-NO POINT 1 - Bad Impression !! Felt like being SCAMMED !!!

Registered and entered the club. It seemed that the first floor (Main Room - The Theatre) are for the VIP's and Media. Ok, that I understand since its a soft launch and the club needs promotion right ? We're forced to walk up a tight stairway to second floor (The Long Lounge). Basically its a bright bluey environment to chill out whereby you can overlook the Sunway Pyramid and be seen by other people too from the ouside !!

We cared less about the Long Lounge and proceed to another floor. The next floor is basically the second floor of the Main Room. ( Long Lounge is an outer area that wrapped the Main Room, got it? ) Well, nothing to shout about this place. I would say the walkway is abit spacious but at least you have room to walk when there's lotsa people. Selling point here is, you can overlook the whole main floor for performances of the night while chilling out at your comfy chair. Yes, its damn comfy till a point that you might fall asleep !!

Climbed another floor, Yup !! its a three storey high club. It might looked big and majestic from outside but its kinda not so spacious on the inside. The rooftop is known as The Observatory. And also nothing to shout about this place. Caused its like a bar, where you order your drinks and chill out for the rest of the night at the peak of The Opera. Not so bad after all. But not last night. Its horrendous, packed like sardin.

Since its a free flow night we decided that we should stop at this floor for the drink. Yah man, its so darn hot after walking up few hundred steps !! But had no choice caused the floors below are so packed till we cant even jostled in to get our free drinks. Yeah,WTF right ?
NO-NO POINT 2 - Damn hot, only got fans, at least fit it some air-cons. Music Please !!

Its free flow and that's where the bad side of Malaysian can be seen. Had no patience, cutting queue, uttering foul language to get their drinks from the bar tender. I understand cause the bar had no proper system in their work due to shortage of waiters. But there was only ONE!! seasoned bartender to give out drinks to everyone and to my surprise, the waiters don't even bother to at least lend a hand or two to help him apart from giving him more pressure !! waited for 20minutes, dint get our drink and it's time to say BYE-BYE !!
NO-NO POINT 3 - Eff-ing bad service, bad coordination, no proper system !!

And my verdict ? We walked out the club in anger and full of disappointment around 945pm !! Yes, its only 45minutes and you will get bored like hell. Its like better spending your time and money on movie in the cinema,at least you get a comfy chair and peace of mind. I felt  like as though we are being scammed to go there for nothing. And oh, after 10pm, the crowd started to disperse to other clubs nearby with a long long face !! No free drinks and have to pay. For what ?

I hope my post will get noticed by The Opera of Sunway people, at least do some justice to your newly opened club. If these problems are not fixed asap, better open somewhere else rather than clustering the Sunway area with other more established clubs.

The only thing that can make you laugh in The Opera !! Naughty Mr.Pang, your name was published !!

Understandably, its just a soft launch but at least do some great stuffs, better services to impress your target market rather making a big hoo-haa about new concepts and at last the clubbers got disappointed and go for somewhere else.

The Opera - New Club in Sunway Pyramid

The Opera - New Club In Sunway Pyramid !!

New clubbing scene in Sunway Pyramid after MOS Euphoria and Barcelona. What? Another new club? Yupz, it is by the name of The Opera, modelled after the renowned La Scala Opera House in Milan, Italy. With 3 seperate rooms and concepts, Main Room, The Long Lounge and The Observatory with a total of 20,000 sq. ft. Officially opened today,22nd of December.

The Opera is the place with daily Cirque Nouveau Performances featuring acrobatic/circus troupes from China, Russia, etc! Video DJ'ing and Live Band Performances during Happy Hours and showcasing Global, Regional and Local Recording Artists & DJs all year round. Nonetheless, also featuring performances by opera singers, martial artists, magicians and more.

The Theatre
Over 8000 sq feet of space, this is the main room. From the ground floor, patrons will party with a sweeping view of this three storied opera house where the mezzanine is flanked on both sides with luxury VIP boxes, a commanding view from the rear, and on the fore and from the high ceilings sets the stage for the Opera’s performances.

Cirque Nouveau, or ‘New Circus’, will be the most unique feature of the Opera. The term Cirque Nouveau was made famous and became widely used since Cirque du Soleil became a household name by combining music, circus-style acts and elaborate costumes. There are no animals used in this type of circus and influences are drawn as much from contemporary culture as from circus history.

At the Opera, you will experience daily performances by acrobats, contortionist, trapeze acts, gymnast and martial artists; all blending in their acts with modern club tracks by regional and international DJs as well as video dj-eing where music videos are mixed and played on giant LED screens. Live bands, concerts will also take stage and there will be both Italian and Chinese opera performers and singers to add novelty to this grand theatre.

The Observatory
Located on the rooftop of the Opera with a space of 4000 sq feet, this area holds several functional bars, which makes it an ideal place for functions, private parties and events. Here the party is set where the atmosphere is al fresco with the music filling the night air and stars replacing club lights against the sky as the backdrop. With big projector screens and several seating choices, ‘the Observatory’ just like ‘the Long Lounge’, provides a more relaxed and chilled-out ambience for patrons - a perfect antithesis to the certain to be wild Opera’s main room.

The Long Lounge
Hugging this stand alone building, the Long Lounge provides the ideal environment to relax with class whether one wants to escape traffic and enjoy the best happy hour deals in Sunway, chill out from the main room or to dine – a menu offering both local and international dishes. Located behind clear glass panels, this ultra-trendy lounge overlooks the mall and definitely the place to see and be seen!

Raja Petra Kamaruddin(RPK) Secret Hideout in UK - Dec'09 ?

Raja Petra Kamaruddin's Secret Hideaway in London ?
Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Raja Kamaruddin has been reported to be in London. There is information that Raja Petra, who was allegedly hiding in Melbourne, Australia, is currently holed up in a luxurious apartment.

Mingguan Malaysia reported that the editor, popularly known as RPK, was now believed to have been staying at the six-storey Trinity Court Apartments in Gloucester Terrace, Bayswater.

It is understood that Raja Petra has been renting a two-bedroom unit there with two toilets, a kitchen and a living room. However, the source did not reveal how long he has been living there. There are also claims that Raja Petra is staying in Manchester.

Two arrest warrants were issued against Raja Petra after he failed to turn up in court on April 23 and May 23 for his trials over a seditious article on his website www.malaysiatoday.net defaming the Prime Minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

Raja Petra is also accused of defaming Rosmah and two others in a statutory declaration made at the Jalan Duta Court complex on June 18, last year.

The Sessions Court later granted him a discharge not amounting to an acquittal on Nov 11 and 13, as the police had yet to serve the warrant of arrest on him.

When contacted, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar declined to comment, adding that police were still trying to hunt down Raja Petra with the arrest warrant issued against him under Section 4(1)(b) of the Sedition Act.

It was earlier reported that the police had managed to trace Raja Petra’s movements who had fled to Thailand illegally before flying off to Australia.

Malaysian Hot Gossips - Bung Mokhtar and Zizie Secret Marriage Exposed !!

Zizie Ezette
After playing a guessing game with the Malaysian media, controversial Kinabatangan MP Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin finally ‘fessed up that he has married TV actress Zizie Ezette in a hush-hush ceremony.

“As everyone knows, this matter (his relationship with Zizie) has been discussed a lot in the papers,” Bung Mokhtar told Berita Harian via SMS in an exclusive. “Whatever it is, it’s over and done with.”

However, the 50-year-old politician declined to provide details of his secret marriage to Zizie out of respect for his first wife Datin Nor Asidah Alimuddin.

When contacted via the phone, Zizie expressed her shock to Daily Chilli that Bung Mokhtar has come clean about the status of their relationship. “He told the press? When? I didn’t know about this,” claimed the 31-year-old award-winning actress.

But judging from her chirpy voice, Zizie sounded relieved that the love drama in her life was over.

I hope people will stop speculating after this,” she said cheerfully. “I’ve said what I needed to say and I’m so tired of having to talk about the same subject over and over again. But now that he has spoken, I guess I’ve got nothing else to say.

Amber Chia, Raymond Teo, Danny Lim and Kelly Jagan striking a pose at Parkson

Kelly Jagan and Danny Lim can add another feather to their caps. The winners of The Ford Supermodel of the World Malaysia 2009 have signed a six-digit deal  with Parkson as their brand ambassador.

“We’ve signed a one-year contract with Kelly and Danny," discloses Raymond Teo, the senior general manager of Parkson Corporation in an exclusive interview with Daily Chilli. “We’ve planned this for a long time with Amber Chia (the executive producer of the model search), but only finalised the deal one or two months ago. Parkson has been in the market for 22 years and we want to stay fresh by associating ourselves with something trendy like the Ford Supermodel search.”

As the new face of Parkson Malaysia (the Malaysian retail giant also has outlets in China and Vietnam), Kelly and Danny’s tour of duty will include gracing the brand’s runway shows and starring in its advertising and promotion campaigns.

“I’m happy and thankful for this opportunity,” enthuses Kelly. “It’s my first major endorsement deal. I didn’t shop a lot in Parkson before this. But definitely, you’ll see shopping a lot more here.”

On her prep works for the Ford Supermodels of the World Finals in Brazil on Jan 16, the 20-year-old says it’s so far so good. “I’ve been practising on my catwalk and photoshoot diligently. I’m enjoying the stage a lot more these days. But I’ve realised that I need to work a lot more on my self-confidence ‘coz I lost it on stage during the Malaysian finals in KL.”
