Fire Burnt 200-year old Ho Ann Kiong Temple in KT

Ho Ann Kiong temple was blazed by fire at 930pm


The oldest structure in Kuala Terrenganu, Ho Ann Kiong temple was blazed by fire at 930pm on Monday. The 200-years old Chinese temple built in 1801 was ravaged almost 60%  of the entire structure.


The Ho Ann Kiong temple, built by the early Hokkien community and situated at the city’s Chinatown tourist belt. the temple was the oldest and largest Chinese place of worship in the state.

Foul play or arson attack was ruled out in the preliminary investigation. The probe to determine the actual cause of the fire and the estimated loss is still underway.


Kuala Terengganu MP Mohd Abdul Wahid Endut who was also at the scene said he would contribute funds for the restoration of the temple.


“The temple is part of our heritage and history. It should be rebuilt at any cost,” he said.


Not a really good news despite it is still in the auspicious month of Chinese New Year and just finished praying to heaven god (bai tin gong).
