Roger Federer Wins 2010 Australian Open,16th Grand Slam Title

The champ, Roger Federer as Andy Murray playing second fiddle to him once again.

As expected, Roger Federer had clinched his fourth Australian Open title of his career this year and his never-ending Grand Slam record goes on, currently stands at 16 titles in total. His opponent was none other than Andy Murray of UK,Great Britain. The match ended 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (11).


It was a joy for Roger Federer who won his first Grand Slam as a father to twin daughters,second to do so after Andre Agassi in 2003. And agony for Murray as he was riding the hopes of a British public, most of whom have only read about the last British man to win a singles title in a Grand Slam - Fred Perry in 1936.

It was quite a straight forward match for Roger as he raced to 2 sets up in a relaxed fashion, only to struggle a little in the 3rd set. Murray broke Federer's serve as early as in the 3rd game of the set.


Federer rallied from 5-2 down in the third to force the tiebreaker and, after saving three set points, missed his first chance to finish it off when his forehand just missed the line.


Federer won the lengthy third-set tiebreaker on his third match point after fending off five set points for Murray. He clinched the match in 2 hours, 41 minutes when Murray netted a backhand.

It was Federer's 22nd Grand Slam final, where he's won a record 16. Federer has appeared in 18 of the past 19 Grand Slam finals only to lose to Rafael Nadal (5 times) and Juan Martin Del Potro in those occasions. What a staggering record !!


p/s- After watching some of Federer's matches in the past 2 weeks, I noticed one thing that made him so special, his Nike apparels !! if you compare the colour of his sports tee and the tennis court background, you can see that both are similar. Going stealth and confusing his opponents perhaps? Great colour choice by him. Well done !!

Apple iPad Finally Launched - 2010 Review

Apple latest tablet computer, iPad !!

After weeks and even months of speculations, Apple has finally released their first ever tablet computer yesterday at San Francisco. And yes, it's not called the iSlate or iTablet, believe it or not, the new tablet is called the Apple iPad !! How interesting !

This very anticipated iPad weighs only 680g with only 0.5inch thick for a large form factor tablet. Imagine it as a bigger brother to your iPhone or iPod Touch and yes they worked almost the same way albeit the size differences.

What are the specs for this Apple iPad ? It runs on a custom 1GHz Apple A4 processor chip that handles both processing and graphics performance. It is also fully network capable with 802.11n WiFi and 3G connectivity.

It will ship with 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of Flash memory. Apple claims the device has up to 10 hours of battery life and that it can sit for a month on standby without needing a charge.

A big 9.7in LED backlit display (1,024 x 768-pixels) with multitouch capabilities and has a built-in accelerometer.

Interestingly the iPad syncs with a Mac or PC over the same 30-pin sync cable that the iPhone uses, so it can sync all your photos, music, videos and applications in the same manner.

Giving the Amazon Kindle a run for its money, the iPad also functions as an e-book reader, courtesy of Apple’s new iBooks application. The iPad will use Apple’s new iBookstore that will feature books from major and independent publishers.

The iPad comes in two versions — one with WiFi and the other with both WiFi and 3G.

It will go on sale in late March, with prices starting at US$499 (RM1,697) for WiFi-only models and up to US$829 (RM2,818) for the WiFi- and 3G-enabled 64GB model.

My verdict ?
PROS - With its larger size, the iPad's virtual keyboard comes a step closer than the iPhone's to replicating a real keyboard, with "keys" people can touch with two hands and all of their fingers.

CONS - The iPad is designed to run just one application on the screen at time and doesn't allow multitasking. It also lacks a built-in camera to take photos and video and the ability to play Flash-based content on web sites.

Pig Heads Found In 2 Mosques Around Klang Valley, 27th Jan 2010

It was truly shocking to see the sights of pig heads being thrown in the compound of 2 mosque along Jalan Klang Lama, Petaling Jaya on an early morning of Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010.

This incident comes just days after about a dozen fire-bombing attacks and acts of vandalism were perpetrated on Churches and a Sikh temple in the wake of the “Allah” controversy.

Pigs are considered unclean by the Muslims here and seeing it in the mosque compound is perceived as an insult to them.

Mosque officials found what appeared to be two wild boar heads wrapped in plastic bags and surrounded with Ringgit notes around 5.30 am this morning.

The two mosques in question are the Masjid Jumhuriyah in Taman Dato Harun and the Al- Imam Tirmizi mosque at Taman Sri Sentosa.

Separately, Zulkifli Mohamad, the top official at the Sri Sentosa Mosque on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, said men arriving for early morning prayers found two bloodied pigs' heads in plastic bags in the compound.

"We feel this is an evil attempt by some people to aggravate tensions," Mr Zulkifli told The Associated Press.

No-one has been hurt in the series of attacks on various houses of worship since the 31 December court ruling which allowed non-Muslims to use the word Allah as a translation for God.
Police have arrested 19 people in connection with the attacks so far.

Correspondents say some of Malaysia's majority Muslim community suspect Christians of wanting to use the word Allah to encourage Muslims to convert to Christianity.

Analysts say the controversy has been stoked by hard-line elements within Malay Muslim political groups to assert Malay primacy in a shifting political scene.

The government has appealed against the ruling, in contrast to countries like Indonesia, Egypt and Syria where Christian minorities freely use the Arabic word to refer to God.
