Data Capping TMNET HSBB aka UniFi Packages Suspended

Suspension of Data Download Cappings for All UniFi packages

A very good news to all current and future TMNET HSBB aka UniFi subsribers as TM has already suspended their data download capping for all UniFi packages. This was due to the tons of complains TMNET received from the public in the micro blogging site, Twitter yesterday.

One of their Unifi tweets in Twitter stating that -
NO volume cap 4 all #unifi packages 4 now. Decision due to public feedback. TM will only monitor usage pattern 4 time being (sic)

The public were very disappointed over the expensive charges TMNET's HSBB packages for home users which are RM149 for 5Mbps, RM199 for 10Mbps, and RM249 for 20Mbps repectively

Whereas in Singapore, a 100Mbps service which is 5 times the speed of a 20Mbps connection that only costs about RM200.

Prices aside,the biggest let down was the fact that all UniFi packages have a download data as such consumers learned that the 5Mbps service is capped at 60GB while 10Mbps service is capped at 90GB and 20Mbps service has a 120GB cap every months.

To make matters even worst, the data download caps are calculated on a daily basis. If consumers exceeded their daily download limit, the high-speed broadband connections would be throttled down to about 10% of the purchased speed. WHAT THE HELL !!

As a consumer, we are paying for such a premium price for broadband and TM is actually capping and throttle our download speed if we exceeded the daily limit. At least, in my honest opinion, they should improve their current copper connection to be more stable in all areas instead with the money earned from HSBB.

Yes, I know currently TM is the pioneer and the only ISP which offers such services but if they were to gain trust from the end-users, I think it is good to improve their foundations before even trying to promote new innovations.

Telekom Malaysia (TM) is launching the High Speed Broadband (HSBB) service on this coming 24 March 2010 at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur. TM will announce a new branding for its HSBB service as well as its packages and pricing. The HSBB service will be launched by Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak.

During this perioed, the four main areas that will be covered by TM HSBB services at the time of service launch will be Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Taman Tun Dr Ismail and Bangsar.

While Malaysians are preparing ourself for Earth Hour like we did last year, TM on the other hand in its press release said:
To mark the countdown to March 24 2010 in a grand manner, the entire Menara TM will be lit up every evening starting from 15 March 2010 with a graphical countdown projection beam depicting a countdown clock leading up to the gala launch date.

TM’s total expenditure related to the HSBB project as of 31 December 2009 reached RM1.9 billion while the total of approved claims from Government up to December 2009 stands at RM990 million. In terms of premises passed, TM has wired up to 152,000 premises passed as at 31 December 2009.

Everyone Connects Banner Concert In Bukit Bintang Was Awesome !!

Yupz, that was exactly the catchy phraseline that caught the people's attention for the mass sing along Everyone Connects Banner concert in Jalan Bukit Bintang on last Saturday, 21st November 2009. Local artistes such as Bunkface, Reshmonu, Suki and Tomok was there to hype up the crowd.

Over 5,000 party goers sang along to the catchy beat of Through My Window,a song that set the nation abuzz since its debut in what has been billed as the biggest “karaoke session” in Jalan Bukit Bintang.

The Everyone Connects Microphone Heads Giving Away Flyers and Freebies..

For the past 2 days, some of you might had notice some strange microphone heads walking around KL city handing out flyers, bandana and Bunkface's Limited Edition CD's. It was mainly for publisity purpose by Telekom Malaysia to engage interest from the public and it really worked !


Since Friday midnight, the Jalan Bukit Bintang stretch along Maybank to KFC was closed to make way for what it billed as one of the biggest mass sing along session the next day. The event started as early as 10am with eagerly fans was treated to some face paintings, online game competition and of course a Through My Window booth where they can sing along to the tune and got their videos recorded.

Hitz.FM Morning Crew, JJ and Ean !!

The event was hosted by JJ and Ean of the Hitz.FM's Morning Crew and to get the public in the mood, they were seen throwing away freebies such as Everyone Connects T-Shirts and Bunkface's CD to the crowd. The theme song, Through My Window song was performed by local band Bunkface to an energetic crowd who rocked along complete with dummy microphones despite the rain.

Bunkface's Sam can be seen from the gigantic screen too !
